HP choose Printed for case study

PRINTED, the Guernsey based printer, has been chosen as a case study in marketing success by HP for its marketing showcase series.

The local company has reported a second consecutive year of 40% growth in its print-on-demand service for international greetings cards and postcards retailers and is now sending more than 2.2 million individual items out through Guernsey Post.

This success has been picked up by HP. They chose to publish a case study showcasing how Printed were an early beta tester of what is now known as PrintOS Site Flow. This case study has been sent to high tech printers internationally and has gained the Guernsey company positive international recognition.

Rob Plampton, joint managing director of Printed, explains that the key system, Site Flow, is a Cloud based system that allows online and high street retailers across the world to send customer orders to Printed in Guernsey;

“We started transforming Printed in 2011 with significant investment in new equipment and technologies – and quickly attracted prestigious international customers in this amazing, fast growing market. But, by 2014, rapid growth had already pushed us to our limits.

“We then had a further round of investment in more machinery and became a beta customer of HP’s Site Flow technology (then called OneFlow Cloud). Since then we have been able to add new customers and grow the business even faster.

“With another year of 40% growth in our international division, HP realised how well we had been using their system and asked if they could showcase this to the international print industry.”

When Rob and joint MD Andy Fothergill went to a printing conference in Europe recently, they were surprised to find out how well known their business was amongst international printers – a fact they put down to the HP showcase.

As Andy Fothergill says;

“We have been really pleased at the growth of the print-on-demand division of the company. And we have also been working hard at developing the other divisions, providing more traditional print services as well as point of sale, new print finishes and overprint services. With so much going on, we just hadn’t realised how much of an impact our achievements using Site Flow had made.

“It was a lovely surprise to be so well known amongst our European peers and very pleasing that HP recognised that we have managed to make so much good use of the technology.

“The feedback has been so strong that HP have now asked to make a video report about Printed which is expected to be released in the next few weeks.
